Welcome to Chic and Unique. We are so happy you've chosen to consign your women's clothing, shoes, and handbags with us!
It's been just over TWO YEARS since we moved already! Our new store is twice as big as our older location that we were at for 14 years. We're still on the same street in the Loop but closer to Milwaukee Avenue (Hwy 36). Our new address is 112 E Chestnut Street (across the street from The Runaway Micropub). Look for the blue building with large white letters "Chic and Unique Consignment & Boutique".
Consignment Policy Highlights:
We are excited to help you clean out your closet and help you find new items you'll love to wear! We will only accept what we can physically process in 24-48 hours. Once we are full for the day, we will still go through your items and ask you to please return with them another day.
1. NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED: Stop by on Tuesdays though Fridays between 10:00 - 3:00pm. We will only accept what we can physically process within 24-48 hours. We highly recommend that you stop by earlier in the day as we fill up rather quickly.
NOTE: We prefer to not accept items on Saturdays since we are very busy helping our shoppers buy your fabulous items and may not be able to dedicate the time to going through your items. That doesn't mean we don't want them, we just ask that you come back Tuesday-Friday. Thank you for understanding!
2. DO YOUR PREP WORK: We expect your clothing to be freshly washed with everything fastened closed and buttoned, folded neatly inside a laundry basket, bin, box, or tote (please no garbage bags). Handbags, wallets, and shoes must be completely wiped clean inside and out with all laces, buttons, and zippers closed. We will not accept items with any smoke or heavy odor, stains, flaws, or pet fur.

4. 30 ITEMS PER DROP OFF: We will accept up to 30 items per day. This includes clothing, shoes, handbags, and wallets combined. Please ask us about our "Brands We Love" list.
5. ALL SEASONS ALL THE TIME: We prefer current season items so you we can put them on the sales floor right away and you'll earn your cash much faster. However, if you have a few off-season items, we will accept them and put them on the sales floor at the right time of year.
6. TRENDY, CURRENT STYLES: Items must be within TWO - THREE years of style. No vintage or outdated styles, please.
7. BRING YOUR CURRENT LEGAL PHOTO ID. If you agree to and sign our contract at your drop off, we will charge a $5 New Consignor Set Up Fee that will be deducted from your account (no need to bring $5 at the time of drop off) and a $5 annual consignor maintenance fee thereafter.
8. NO EXPIRATION: Your items will never expire. You will always get paid for the items we sell no matter when they sell, specifically for off-season items. This means that according to our contract, your items are guaranteed to be on the sales floor a minimum of 60 days from the date we put them on the floor. If we have exhausted all attempts at selling your item(s), they will be donated locally to Love Inc or Salvation Army.
PRO TIP: Use your earnings as "store credit" towards something new for you. New arrivals are added to the sales floor EVERY DAY. We receive approximately 1500+ new arrivals weekly from our amazing consignors, so there is always something new for you to shop for. Please shop local and support small business - we need you! Checks are written upon request at any time when there is $20 or more on your account. Under $20 will remain as store credit.

- DESIGNER sunglasses
- DESIGNER perfume (new or minimally used)
- DESIGNER handbags, wallets, jewelry, clothing, shoes: (Ex: Tory Burch, Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Dooney and Bourke, Coach, Michael Kors, all luxury brands Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Longchamp, TIffany, etc.)

Detailed Consignment Policy:

CLOTHING must be freshly washed and folded neatly in a bin/box/laundry basket with all zippers/buttons fastened.

SHOES must be wiped clean inside and out with laces/zippers/buckles tied or fastened.

HANDBAGS must be wiped or vacuumed clean inside and out with no residue/dust/smells.

LUXURY GOODS (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Tiffany, etc.) will be authenticated for a $20 fee due at drop off for each item. This protects us, our customers, and it protects you. We will NOT sell inauthentic items as it is illegal, it harms the economy, and tarnishes our reputation with our customers.
*** We do not accept Wedding, Homecoming, or Prom dresses. However, we do accept current style Mother of the Bride/Groom formal wear year-round.***
Other items we DO NOT accept:
- Jewelry (unless it is a designer brand like Tiffany & Co, Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, etc.)
- Lingerie, undergarments, bath robes, scrubs, sweatpants
- Heavy thick bulky winter coats
- Wedding, Prom, or Homecoming dresses
- Maternity clothing
- Men's, Children's or Junior's clothing
- Lower-end fast fashion brands like Shein, Temu, Fashion Nova, Amazon, Kohls/Walmart/Target and other lower-end brands
- Items that are stained, flawed, broken, have missing parts, smoke or strong odors, or have pet fur
- Items that are brought in garbage bags
- Items that are not prepped as stated above
THE FOLLOWING IS OUR SEASONAL INVENTORY SCHEDULE:
Spring/Summer Clothing (January - early July): short sleeve brighter color tops, spring/summer dresses, lightweight cardigans and jackets, spring/summer shoes/sandals, shorts, capris, and seasonal handbags and wallets.
Fall/Winter Clothing (end of July - December): long sleeve darker color tops, jeans, fall/winter dresses, cardigans sweaters and jackets, fall/winter shoes, and seasonal handbags and wallets.

FAQs:
What if I want to consign items but I want them back if they don't sell?
- We ask that you only bring in items you are 100% ready to part with. We make exceptions for high-end, designer, or luxury items (Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Coach, Kate Spade, etc.) which must be discussed during your drop off. We inspect items twice. If we find any flaws after you have dropped off your items, we will make a courtesy call for you to pick up these items within seven days or we will donate them locally to Love, Inc or Salvation Army charities which help support our local community in Southeast Wisconsin.
How much and when will I get paid? Who sets the price of what my items sell for?
- Chic and Unique will inspect, price, market, promote, and potentially discount your items during a guaranteed 60 day selling period. We will store your off-season inventory and have it available on the sales floor during the correct season, and you'll get paid when it sells (items do not expire). We research and price items at approximately 25-50% of the current resale and original retail value to sell them quickly. We will have markdown periods during this time to help sell your clothes priced at our discretion. You'll receive a minimum of 35% of the selling price for items priced $0-99, 50% for items priced $100-299, and 70% for items priced $300+. A $20 per item authentication fee is required at your drop off for luxury brand authentication (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Prada, MCM, Fendi, Chloe, MiuMiu, etc.) We will deduct a $5 new consignor set up fee and an annual $5 consignor maintenance fee directly from your account. Your store credit of sold items can be used towards any purchase or will be paid at anytime when your account has accumulated the minimum of $20.00. Checks are available on request. Checks expire after 180 days and will not be rewritten for any reason. You will be responsible to follow up on your account by calling or stopping by during business hours to inquire your account balance.
What if I want to purchase something from Chic and Unique, can I use my sales as store credit?
- Absolutely! This is the most popular benefit our consignors prefer. Use your store credit towards ANY purchase - it's like creating your own discount!
What happens to my items that didn't sell?
- We will donate your unsold items after the guaranteed minimum 60 day consignment period. We donate to local charities in our Burlington community (Love, Inc and Salvation Army) who will benefit greatly from these items. Your items will stay out of the landfill and have a longer sustainable life. You’re helping leave a less carbon footprint when your items are donated.
Do I need to set up an appointment?
- Appointments are no longer required. We will accept your items Tuesdays - Fridays from 10:00-3:00 as long as we can physically process them within 24-48 hours. If we are unable to do so, we will review your items and ask that you return on a different day with them (try to drop them off as early in the day as possible).
Can you accept or price items via phone or email?
We need to evaluate your items in person to determine condition, style, demand, and pricing.
