Road Reconstruction Project as of 4/27/26
Share
Welcome to our first Chic and Unique Blog post!
It has begun and we're one week in the road reconstruction project already. This project has been highly needed to improve the downtown roads, utilities, and sidewalks. The project will take place in two phases: Phase 1 includes the Chestnut Street Loop which we are part of and also includes the first block of Pine Street.
They started on Monday, 4/20 and as of today (4/27), the asphalt has been removed and the road has been closed to vehicle traffic. The sidewalks will remain open for the next couple of weeks so access to all downtown businesses is still very easy. Starting on 4/27, they will start digging to replace the underground electrical, sewer, and piping.
Parking is so close! There are several free parking lots that surround the downtown, and all of them are less than a 2 minute walk. I posted a quick video of the easiest of them for you (behind the Plaza movie theater) so you can still easily park, shop, eat and more with the downtown businesses that are remaining open regular hours for you. Please support all of us during this construction so we remain in business after it's done!
And speaking of when it's done (Phase 1 expected to be done mid to end of July), it will be absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! We are getting three times the amount of trees, smooth sidewalks, and nice lighting that you will love. I know we are looking forward to it!
Until next time, stay Chic!
